Every Beachcomber Hot Tub comes with an energy-saving Beachcomber brand heatshield cover that forms a vacuum seal all around the lip of the hot tub, like the cap of a thermos bottle. You'll notice that each time you open the cover to get into your hot tub that trapped steam is released. A heatshield cover helps to conserve more energy.

Every Beachcomber Heatshield is constructed to exceed posted standards, using the highest quality components that are constructed for consumer safety. All Beachcomber Heatshield Covers are third-party tested by Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratories (NRTL) to comply with the most stringent safety standards in the industry, as laid out by the Underwriters Laboratory Classified Mark (UL).

This marking is visible on all Beachcomber Heatshield Covers and we are proud to show our proof of product compliance to ASTM F1346-91 - Standard Performance Specification for Safety Covers and Labeling Requirements for All Covers for Swimming Pools, Spas and Hot Tubs. Understanding the Role of a Heatshield Cover

A heatshield cover is one of the most important features of any hot tub that directly affects energy efficiency. Industry studies prove that the majority of the heat loss is from the water's surface and that heatshields with 'form fitting gaskets' are more energy efficient and retain the most heat. Beachcomber's 'Heat Bumper Seal' proves that form fitting gaskets are the way to go to be more energy efficient and retain more heat.

Having the correct insulation installed goes a long way in saving energy. Beachcomber's 100% Cavity Sealed Insulation System completely seals and locks in all the available air space. Moisture can't move in or out and the water is protected from the outside ambient temperature.

Your hot tub uses electrical energy to operate the pump and the heating coil. The heating coil keeps your water hot and circulates and filters it to keep it clear and clean.

The more times you have to change your hot tub filter, the more it affects energy consumption. Minimizing the frequency of filter changes will help to reduce overall energy consumption. Beachcomber's Energy Saver Management System allows our customers to have the flexibility to optimize and even change their filtration cycles to provide clear, fresh water. It's all done at the touch of a button. The type of insulation system installed in a hot tub can have a huge effect on energy usage. That's why Beachcomber has always used a 100% cavity filled spray foam insulation system to fill every crevice. This prevents heat from entering or exiting the hot tub. Being wrapped in a high quality Enviroskirt Cabinet further protects the full cavity insulation and contributes to overall efficiency.

Independent testing within the hot tub industry confirmed a critical fact. Insulation that's properly installed in the spa cover and body is the best way to decrease energy consumption. They confirmed what we knew to be true back in the mid 1980's, when we first unveiled our Protec spa. We took the pumping equipment outside of the spa cavity and housed it underneath a safety step. This step doubled as a vented and insulated cover for the equipment as well as a step to grant easy access and exit.

A new law known as "Title 20" is gaining ground to be enforced by concerned governments to verify energy use claims in hot tubs and spas. California Polytechnic State University was sequestered to administer the study, and a call was sent to our industry to send in hot tubs and spas for testing. Only 23 hot tubs from a possible 100 or more manufacturers were sent in for testing and we're proud to say that 3 out of the 9 hot tubs that passed were Beachcomber.

Since that time, our engineers have built a dedicated, more sophisticated testing facility onsite to analyze every single model we offer. We are committed to continuing this rigorous testing indefinitely to prove and substantiate our energy efficiency claims.
